Kilkenny Medieval Mile Museum picks up Conservation Award at the Building and Architect of the Year Awards

Congratulations to Kilkenny Medieval Mile Museum and McCullough Mulvin Architects on winning the Conservation Award at the Building and Architect of the Year Awards.  The winners were announced at the gala awards ceremony on the evening of Thursday, June 8th 2017 at The Mansion House, Dublin, with hundreds of industry figures in attendance.

The 13th century St Mary’s Church is the finest example of a medieval church in Ireland and has been converted into a modern museum.

Marcon worked with Edinburgh-based interpretive designers Bright to complete the fit-out of the museum space which complements the architecture and blends traditional and contemporary features within the church.

Marcon was responsible for the manufacture and installation of all specialist joinery and corian plinths, graphics, conservation grade display cases and the coordination of all audio visual hardware.

The new museum tells Kilkenny’s 800-year story with a contemporary twist and is well worth a visit.  See more.
